For many children, wishes are inspired by their favorite memories or activities that give them joy. Often they involve family members who have been with them through life’s ups and downs.
This is true of ten-year-old Kai, who already understands the value of family. In addition to his parents, his family is a blend of eleven biological, adopted, and foster siblings.
When Kai was given the opportunity to have anything, meet anyone, go anywhere, or be anything in the world, he chose something that would bring joy to his entire family: a trip to Disney World, the happiest place on Earth! Inspired by this young boy’s consideration of others, Make-A-Wish Kansas staff and volunteers were determined to coordinate a trip that would allow the family to create special memories together.
The wish experience started the minute the family walked into the Wichita airport and were met by unexpected fanfare. They were greeted at the gate by their fellow passengers, the entire flight crew, and of course cookies and decorations. Kai and his family boarded their flight, knowing that the best was yet to come. Upon arrival in Florida, the family was met by a personal greeter who escorted them to their adjoining villas at Give Kids The World. Kai spent the week exploring Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Sea World, and playing in the sun.
Wish children come from families of all sizes. Large or small, we are committed to creating every wish into a life-affirming and memorable experience. Our sincere gratitude goes out to the donors who made it possible for Kai to spend a week with his family where the only thing they had to worry about was whether or not to have ice cream for dinner!
