Fifteen-year-old Eric waited a long time for his wish. Due to sickness and treatments, his wish had to be rescheduled several times over the course of a few years. While in the hospital for treatment, Eric had a lot of time to research fun places to go.
After seeing the waterslides at the famous Aquaventure waterpark and imagining himself swimming with dolphins at Dolphin Cay, he decided a trip to Atlantis was exactly what he wanted. Mostly, he looked forward to spending a week of uninterrupted fun with his siblings and cousin.
The fun began when a limousine picked Eric up from the airport and took him to the resort. After that, the smile never left his face! He spent days splashing in the ocean, swimming at the water park, zipping down slides, and swimming with dolphins. The first day he saw the ocean, he was shocked that it was as blue in person as it was in pictures.
Upon their return, Eric’s mom shared that his wish trip was a transformational experience. “It was overwhelming to have such a great trip with loads of excitement and family time,” she said. Because he spent so much of his childhood in hospitals, this was one of the first times she saw him light up, laugh, and enjoy life. Eric himself said it best: “The greatest moment was that I forgot all about cancer and tumors. Life was full of life and I'll never forget what Make-A-Wish did for me and my family.”
