Our son Eagan was diagnosed at birth with a heart defect that requires him to have a pacemaker for the rest of his life. Three years later he was diagnosed with a lung disease requiring extensive treatment. Through all of this Eagan fell in love with sea life - especially dolphins. He even had an alter ego, Dolphin Boy!
He told everyone he was a boy with dolphin super powers, including shooting water from his blowhole, and swimming super fast!
So naturally when he was asked what he wanted for a wish, he knew immediately that he wanted to swim with dolphins. In October of of 2016 we left home to spend a week with sea creatures of all kinds. On the second day of our trip, Eagan spent the day talking to, training and swimming with dolphins. The minute he stepped onto the beach at Discovery Cove, he was a little boy with no cares in the world.
He was happier than he had ever been, and for that, so were we. For one week, we were a family, nothing more, and that was simply glorious.
