Wichita, KS – Make-A-Wish Kansas has received a $20,000 Good Neighbor Fund Grant from Spirit AeroSystems. The organization will use the grant to fund high-cost wishes like 13-year old Melissa’s wish to go to Hawaii and 12-year-old Marco’s wish to go on a Disney Cruise with his family. The cost per wish is as varied as the imaginations of the children served, and Make-A-Wish Kansas is committed to covering all the expenses associated with a wish. A wish is a gift from donors and the broader community and never has a financial impact on the family.
“For 10 years, Spirit employees have given their financial resources through the Good Neighbor Fund and have contributed millions of dollars annually to local nonprofit organizations,” said Jo Miklos, Good Neighbor Fund Board President. “I am proud to work alongside extremely generous co-workers who give back so the Good Neighbor Fund can give grants like this to Make-A-Wish Kansas to support the great work they do for children and their families.”
“The fact that Spirit employees have chosen to recognize and generously support the work that we do is touching,” said Make-A-Wish Kansas CEO, Dr. April S. Abernethy. “It allows us to reach out to a wish child during their most vulnerable moments and offer them hope, strength and joy. Wishes are focused on the child, but they also have the ability to bring the community together to share the power of a wish. We are thrilled to have Spirit AeroSystems as part of our wish community.”
The grant announcement was made at the Good Neighbor Fund Board of Directors meeting on July 8, 2015.
