What are the sources of funding?
Donations from individuals provide a significant amount of our income. Other revenue comes from outside fundraisers (external events), corporate donations, sponsorships, workplace giving, grants, memorials or tributes, bequests, and endowments. Other revenue comes from external fundraisers where groups, individuals, or organizations hold events on our behalf, and National Corporate Sponsor campaigns and promotions. Funds raised in Kansas go toward Kansas wish kids.
How much of my donation goes to granting wishes?
Based on our most recent independent annual audit, 81% of every dollar donated goes to our program services, which exceeds program service allocation standards set forth by leading charity watchdog groups, including the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
How much does a wish cost?
Through in-kind donations of goods and services, the average cost of a wish that is granted by Make-A-Wish Kansas is $7,500. However, the cost per wish is as varied as the imaginations of the children we serve.
Is there any cost to the family?
There is no cost to the family in fulfilling a child's wish. The entire family living in the same residence (siblings under 18) is encouraged and able to participate in the wish experience whenever possible. All wish expenses are fully covered including any travel and spending money. Our aspiration is to provide the child and family with carefree and joyful memories!
