Graphic Design Internship

The internship program is designed for current undergraduate or graduate students with the goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the internship program is to help students further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience.

Primary Tasks:

  • Work collaboratively with Development and Communications teams
  • Create logo and marketing materials for events
  • Create graphics for Season of Wishes year-end giving campaign
  • Create/edit graphics for social media
  • Website imagery updates/edits

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, or other design software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Digitally savvy
  • Self-starter with initiative and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in MS Suite and internet research tools
  • Ability to maintain discretion when dealing with confidential information

Location: Understanding that graphic design can be done remotely, there are no location restrictions on applicants. Access to a computer and relevant design software is required for remote applicants. 

Duration: Fall Semester (August - December 2016)

Spring Semester (January - May 2017)

Hours/Schedule: Flexible

Volunteer Services Internship

The Volunteer Services Internship is designed for current undergraduate or graduate students to learn about cultivating and managing volunteers with the goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the internship program is to help students further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience.

Primary Tasks:

  • Work closely with the Volunteer Services Manager on volunteer assignments and Wish communication
  • Assist in maintaining volunteer database and file system
  • Work collaboratively with Volunteer Services Manger to promote volunteer opportunities
  • Assist with Referral and Wish Process
  • Update and assemble materials for volunteer trainings
Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in filing and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to maintain discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Ability to engage volunteers and promote the Make-A-Wish Kansas mission
Location: Make-A-Wish Kansas Office located at 1144 N. St. Francis, Wichita, KS 67214

Duration: Spring Semester (January - May 2017)

Wish Program Internship

The Wish Program Internship is designed for current undergraduate or graduate students to learn about cultivating and managing volunteers with the goal of being a leader in the non-profit sector. The purpose of the internship program is to help students further cultivate their skills through a real-life work experience.

Primary Tasks:

  • Assist in maintaining Wish Kid database and file system
  • Create and assemble Wish Kid Packets
  • Assist with Referral and Wish Process
  • Assist with Wish Projects
  • Accompany Program Manager on Airport Send Off parties
  • Take Wish Referrals and assist volunteers with Wish Assignments

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • Proficiency in filing and attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to maintain discretion when dealing with confidential information
  • Ability to engage volunteers and Wish Families and promote the Make-A-Wish Kansas mission
